This is one of the activities on my church anniversary. We create drainage holes in the garden, fill them with chopped dry leaves, and cover the holes with PVC caps to avoid unexpected accident and to filter garbage. Government program of this system called biopori. The main purpose is to increase natural draining capacity by creating holes through the impermeable or semi-permeable layer of soil, especially at civilization area.

Therefore we can drain surface water into the ground. The instructors advise us to allow plant origin garbage and to avoid animal origin garbage, therefore we can avoid unexpected bacteria to drawn into the aquifer.
I still reserve my questions: (1) how can we avoid e.coli to drawn into the ground water aquifer? (2) How much is the minimum distance of the hole to domestic water well?
